Underground Coal Gasification (UCG)

L&M Energy's UCG Exploration

LME retains over 2,100 km2 of coal prospecting permits on the N. Island which initial estimates suggest could contain up to 2000MT of in ground coal potential, if this coal was able to be converted to gas this would represent up to 17tcf of gas resources.

LME’s permit completely surrounds the area where state-owned coal company Solid Energy is currently undertaking a UCG trial.

LME is currently in the very early stages of desktop review, the next steps are to monitor the success of the nearby pilot project, and commission an external third party review aimed at aid resource identification and defining the forward work plan.
